Media Supervisor

Media Department

The Media Supervisor develops, executes, presents and monitors media plans for assigned clients. Analyzes the audiences, content, and metrics of a wide range of media outlets and manages day to day activities of Media Planners/Coordinators. Serves as key media liaison for internal account leaders and the client.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Leads annual media planning and strategy discussions internally and with clients
  • Works closely with all assigned media personnel in the group with evaluation of media information necessary for the preparation of the media plan that best achieves the media objectives and strategies
  • Studies demographic data and consumer profiles to identify desired target audiences for all media/markets
  • Utilizes media research, audience insights & data analytics to determine an optimal media mix
  • Writes or oversees the writing of the final media plans and recommendations, presents to internal teams and clients
  • Works with Account Service in planning overall budgets and developing media objectives, strategies, target audiences and KPIs for measurement
  • Supervises the implementation and evaluation/tracking of all approved media plans and projects
  • Responsible for overall annual media budgets for assigned clients
  • Maintains the best possible relationship with clients, account service, creative/other agency departments and media representatives 
  • Helps to train buyers and planners in proper methods of preparing, evaluating, and implementing media plans
  • Keeps up with latest trends/events in advertising and client related industries
  • Organizes and leads regular internal client status meetings
  • Participates in new business project assignments
  • Conducts performance evaluations of direct reports
  • Involved in recruiting, interviewing and hiring new employees
  • Attends agency and departmental training and events
  • Idea Propeller, 4As Webinars, SXSB and others deemed appropriate by Supervisor
  • Mentors, trains and guides junior team members

 

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree, preferably in Marketing or related field
  • 4-5+ years of media planning/buying experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including presentation skills)
  • Excellent organizational, negotiation, and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail required
  • Strong analytic skills and ability to relate results to client business objectives
  • Proficient at managing multiple projects and able to multi-task, prioritize and structure workload
  • Superior leadership skills and proven ability to work well in a team environment
  • Independent worker and a self-starter
  • Ability to work with agency accounting system and/or other media planning and media research specific software, including MS Office programs

  • Business Strategist: Understands that clear business objectives are the key to driving success and know how to work with clients to develop clear business solutions

  • Trend Spotter: Is one of the first people to identify the trends and technology shaping the future of media and can translate these it into simple Points of View that make them relevant for clients and account/creative teams
